Friday morning:
We visit the archeological site of ancient Marathon. Our official guide will explain the historic events surrounding the Battle of Marathon and, in the Marathon Museum, you can see exhibits from 4000 BCE and the cemetery of the so-called ‘Tomb of the Squares’ dating back to the 5th century BC.
Following our visit, our expert experienced marathon running coach, who has completed the race on many occasions, will show you the starting point of the Classic Route and the stadium of Marathon where the runners warm up before the start. Our return journey back to Athens follows the route of the race and our running coach will analyze and explain the race. The Classic Route is one of the most difficult marathons in the world, with many peculiarities, and requires good planning and preparation to complete it. Our coach will advise on strategies.
